Catholic

The word "catholic"(from Greek) means "universal."

The Church is catholic in a double sense:

(a)

First, the Church is catholic because Christ (who is always present in her) grants her “the fullness of the means of salvation” to be given to all those, who are willing to accept them.

(b)

Secondly, the Church is catholic because she has been sent out by Christ on a mission to the whole of the human race.(Catechism of the Catholic Church, 830,831)
